- Comment: The White Mountains Forest covers about a quarter of the state of New Hampshire and a small portion of western Maine. it's part of the Appalachian Mountains. Silvia and I slept one night in North Conway, a small village north of Conway. We spent the day before crossing the White Mountains Forest through Kancamagus Highway, the Kank, a long two-lane road that runs to Lincoln.
