- Comment: Philly, as its inhabitants call Philadelphia, is a nice and trendy city, It was very nice to spend a couple of days around the city, discovering a piece of American history. I have read several times the US Constitution and each time I discovered what could mean more than two centuries of democracy, a true federal system and a institutional architecture that has produced probably the best example of representative democracy in the world. The celebration of the Constitution is very important and I really envy americans because of it. It is not only patriotism: it is also the consciousness that democracy is something to be defended for its values, as the new 44th US President Barack Obama said on his inaugural speech. And just this consciousness I miss in Italy.
